What is a frame structure?

The name comes from Light Steel Frame (LSF/LGS/LGSF) – which roughly translates to a lightweight structure made of steel frames and refers to a structure composed of thin-walled profiles made of cold-formed galvanized steel sheet.

The first use of cold-formed steel profiles in construction dates back to 1850 in the United States and the United Kingdom. There have been various attempts over time to use lightweight frame structures for residential buildings, but until the end of the 20th century, only technologically advanced countries were able to successfully implement concepts using this type of profile, always with excellent results.

Limited use of this type of structure in residential construction is due to the fact that its use has not been sufficiently popularized and, especially, due to the high demand for profiles in the industrial sector.

Thin-walled profiles made of cold-formed galvanized steel sheet are obtained using specialized machinery and equipment, which through various processes such as rolling, bending, forming, punching, etc., allow the processing of galvanized steel sheets and transform them into structural and non-structural profiles. With state-of-the-art equipment and machinery, we can process steel sheets with thicknesses ranging from 0.8 mm to 2 mm and lengths up to 12 m, more than enough to provide high-performance frame structures.

AREAS OF APPLICATION FOR FRAME STRUCTURES

Residential construction – single-family homes, attached homes, row houses, courtyard homes, etc;
Tourism-related construction – hotels, motels, hostels, guest houses, guesthouses;
Healthcare facilities – hospitals, clinics, sanatoriums;
Commercial and service-related construction– shops, restaurants, auto repair shops, laundromats;
Administrative and educational construction – offices, schools, kindergartens, etc;
Industrial construction – warehouses of various sizes and functions;

PREFABRICATED UNITS FOR CONSTRUCTION

The frame structure can be successfully used for the prefabrication of bathrooms, kitchens, sanitary groups, changing rooms, rooms – for constructions in all the fields mentioned above. These units can shorten the construction time on reinforced concrete structures, offering numerous advantages in terms of quality and execution control.

EXTENSIONS, ADDITIONAL FLOORS, AND/OR ATTIC CONVERSIONS

This is another area where the frame structure excels. Reconstructing or rehabilitating existing buildings often involves quite a drastic intervention, both on the building itself and its surroundings. Using the frame structure ensures a fast and minimally invasive execution, reduced load on existing structures, and, most importantly, the creation of a modern space that meets market demands.

PREFABRICATED WALLS FOR FACADES AND INTERIORS

It constitutes the fastest solution for facade closures and more. Together with prefabricated units, it can offer a modern and fast construction solution for multi-story buildings using reinforced concrete structures.

MODULAR CONSTRUCTIONS

The fact that the frame concept (LSF) is based on modularity is at the core of modular constructions. In reality, starting from a complex design process, any construction can be conceived as a whole, made up of modules required for a specific stage. We are talking about the constructions of the near future.

ENERGY-EFFICIENT CONSTRUCTIONS

Frame structures are the best option for energy-efficient constructions, as it can integrate any of the modern energy efficiency concepts, providing safe and healthy living spaces.

The frame structure (LSF) is, in reality, a very versatile concept, offering unlimited possibilities of use, depending on the needs and creativity of each individual.
